Generate local keys
The goal is to establish encryption keys on your device, keeping private key material out of Telegram and our infrastructure.
Meet T-Shield — a free, community-supported project researching an additional post-quantum encryption layer for Telegram. Built with transparency. Designed for resilience.
THE CONCEPT
Telegram transports the messages. A separate client would handle encryption before content reaches Telegram.
The goal is to establish encryption keys on your device, keeping private key material out of Telegram and our infrastructure.
An opt-in companion client would encrypt messages locally and send only ciphertext through Telegram.
People must verify cryptographic identities independently. Telegram usernames alone cannot guarantee who's on the other end.
Not a Telegram modification. T-Shield cannot make Telegram's own chats quantum-safe or conceal metadata such as account identities and communication timing.
DESIGNED WITH INTENTION
No miracle claims. No invented cryptography. No hidden paywalls.
Our local experiments use standardized ML-KEM. An authenticated, reviewed messaging protocol is still required.
Our design goal is to keep private keys and readable messages on users' devices rather than on a relay.
Bot access is restricted to approved accounts. The Telegram client and encryption transport are still being built.
We plan no subscriptions, paid encryption, advertising, or user-data sales. Development is supported by optional donations.
BUILDING IN THE OPEN
Clear milestones instead of vague security promises.
Read our updates and review the project's security limitations.
Testing is currently invitation-only. Bot access is limited to approved Telegram accounts.
Secure messaging will not be enabled until the required protocol work and review are complete.
A stronger privacy ecosystem should be accessible to everyone. Voluntary support could help cover infrastructure, development and independent security audits.
STRAIGHT ANSWERS
Security claims should be precise. Here's what T-Shield does — and doesn't — promise.
No. The available implementation is a local encryption research demo plus Telegram bot connectivity tests. There is no working Telegram encrypted messaging feature and no independent security audit.
No. The plan is to encrypt selected content separately before it enters Telegram. Telegram's own protocol, account metadata and standard chats remain unchanged.
No. T-Shield is an independent research project, not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Telegram.
Our policy is free access, without advertising or selling data. Donations will be voluntary once a verified contribution method is available.
The bot is currently restricted to approved development accounts. We won't invite general users to transmit sensitive material until secure communications are implemented and reviewed.
